God’s Instruction Remains
Can you imagine what it’s like to feel like an exile in a foreign land? That’s the way the Jews felt while captive in Babylon. Three times Jerusalem was conquered and people taken. The first group in 606 BC included Daniel and the noble families. The second group in 596 BC included priests, craftsmen and prophets like Ezekiel. Finally, in 586 BC Jerusalem was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar’s army. Ezekiel, Daniel and Jeremiah all prophesied during this time, telling God’s people the reason for their captivity – punishment for their sins. God withdrew His protection and allowed Jerusalem to be destroyed.
Repent and turn away from your idols, and turn away your faces from all your abominations.
Ezekiel 14:6

This is frighteningly similar to today’s culture in the United States. Many of God’s people have turned away from Him and disregard His laws. Today’s verse, God’s words through Ezekiel, applies to this nation today just as it did to the Jews in Jerusalem. The Lord’s instruction remains: repent, turn away from your idols, and return to Him.

Take time to pray for Christians in America to heed His voice…and for national leaders like Ezekiel to rise up in this nation to point the way back to God’s protection and provision.

The above devotion came from the “Presidential Prayer Team.”  I have enjoyed receiving them for some time, and felt that this Word for today should be shared.  I pray you are blessed as I am.
